Adaptive Recreation Coordinator

Duties:
Assesses the needs of and develops adaptive sports and recreation programs for individuals with
disabilities, ensuring that most participants will be able to participate in group activities and programs, thus enhancing autonomy and quality of life.

Provides support to Island Rec staff by acting as a resource of information, training, and program support to ensure Island Rec programs are accessible to most participants.

Implements adaptive sports programs, and/or trains and oversees interns and volunteers to implement these programs, to ensure that required services are provided.

Monitor and document participants’ progress in order to facilitate evaluation and modifications to their adaptive sports experience.

Maintain Adaptive Recreation participant information, attendance, and emergency information in the registration system.

Hire, train and supervise all personnel within Adaptive Recreation.

Maintain accurate record of staff time sheets and deliver payroll to Business and HR Manage.

Responsible for completing all accident and incident report forms immediately following the accident or incident and returning to the Programs Manager immediately after completion.

Assist in publicizing adaptive programs within the community by attending community events, building community relationships, etc.

Prepare and submit new program proposals and evaluations.

Keep supervisors up to date on all relevant issues and situations.

Assist in the internal and external promotion of the Preschool, Youth, and Adaptive programs.

Assist in planning and coordinating of youth special event programs.

Assist in the organizing, execution, and leading of After School Recreation Club and Summer Camp program.

Assist in hire, train, and supervise all personnel within youth programs.

Attend all required staff meetings and special events.

Participate in goal setting and long term planning as part of the Association's professional management team.

Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow staff and members of all ages and background.

Maintain effective communication with Management Team members to promote cross departmental cooperation and effective management of intra-departmental activities.

Develop and maintain community relationships with local disability organizations/groups and be an active advocate for the disability population

Accept special projects as assigned by the Programs Manager.

Responsible to follow all policies and procedures and outlined in the Hilton Head Island Recreation Association Personnel Manual.

Assistant Preschool and Youth Coordinator

Duties
Responsible for completing all accident and incident report forms immediately following the accident or incident and submitting them to the Programs Coordinator and Administration Office immediately after completion.

Supports the Preschool and Youth Coordinator in the organizing, planning, leading and coordinating of After School Recreation Club, Summer Camp program, Vacation Club, and Discovery Club programs.

Maintain supplies for the After School, Summer Camp, and Discovery Club programs.

Cover any groups or roles as needed in the After School Recreation Club, Summer Camp, and Vacation Club program.

Work in the Discovery Club classroom as needed; help plan and execute Discovery Club parties and events.

Provide leadership and direction for After School, Summer Camp, Discovery, and other youth programs as directed by the Preschool & Youth Coordinator.

Assist in the hiring, training, and supervise of all personnel within youth programs.

Collaborates with outside agencies/organizations when appropriate for programming.

Assist in planning and coordinating of youth special event programs (Daddy Daughter Dance, Mother Son Night, etc).

Responsible for supervising and leading Summer Camp, After School, KNO, or Vacation Club in the Director’s absence. Responsible for opening or closing any Preschool or Youth program as assigned by the Preschool & Youth Coordinator.

Attend all required staff meetings and special events.

Attend strategic planning meetings for the Preschool, Youth, and Adaptive Recreation programs. Provide suggestions for goals and programs to offer and assist in executing those programs/goals.

Position Summary

Responsibilities include in-person and telephone ticket sales and interacting with patrons in a professional, pleasant manner. The position includes other responsibilities as determined by the Sr. Director of Ticket Services. Box office training will occur over 3 days from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The ideal candidate will be computer-savvy, customer-service oriented, reliable, and have computerized point-of-sale experience. Further, the ideal candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule. Candidate should have excellent problem-solving skills, remain calm in stressful situations, ability to be a self-starter, and practice superior organizational skills.

As a Vacation Package Specialist, a typical day will
include:   

Promotes awareness of brand image internally and externally.   

Makes telemarketing calls and offers return vacation
packages, book sales presentations and invite Owners and guests to special
events.  

Speak with others using clear and professional language;
prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer
telephones using appropriate etiquette.  

Create spreadsheets to organize information related to Sales
and Marketing activities (e.g., mailing lists, tours)  

Enter, retrieve, reconcile, and verify information in
software involved in the sales process. Contact appropriate individuals or
departments as necessary to resolve guest calls, requests, or
problems.   

Assign lead calls or emails to Sales Executives based on
online rotation.

Welcome and greet guests and anticipate and address their
needs.

What You Will Do
- Receives calls from public for emergency services
- Determines which response agency should be responsible for responding to the call for assistance and dispatches appropriate units
- Provide emergency assistance to callers until responding emergency units arrive
- Coordinate rescue efforts with external agencies

Studio Intern

The Full Spectrum Studio is the only art studio in the Low Country specifically created for artists with disabilities. Our studio was established after visiting successful programs across the nation that modeled environments for creative self expression for artists with disabilities. As a result we opened our doors to the public at 33 Bow Circle in January of 2021. We currently serve seven permanent artists who spend regular hours at the studio creating, exploring, gaining life skills by expressing themselves creatively in various media.

Our primary medium is pottery focusing on hand building. Our studio has all the tools needed to create amazing pieces of art to include but not limited to pug mill, slab roller, and kiln. All art work is subject to regular critique processes, which allows our artists to introspectively explore the value of their work and determine what changes, if any they would do in future pieces. As in any art studio, there are studio hands to help when the artist needs more than their own two. Sometimes our artists only have one hand they can use, which is when you can help. Sometimes our artists need help remembering a process, here you can help. Sometimes they need someone to discuss ideas with, here you can help.

Our artists are all members of the Art League of Hilton Head where they regularly show their work and have often successfully sold pieces. Our artists, when able, are encouraged to participate in any of the many markets where we have a presence to include the Hilton Head Farmer's Market on Tuesdays from 9 to 1 at Honey Horn, and the Hilton Head Community Market at Shelter Cove on Saturdays from 9:30 to 12:30.

The successful intern does not specifically need art experience but MUST have excellent communication and people skills. A desire to learn, develop skills, and become a part of a rewarding effort are also required attributes. Working with our artists you will learn more than you could ever expect, and you too will find and elevate your creative voice. Our team of artists are a true representation of people who are regularly underestimated, but who rise to, and exceed all expectations. This is NOT an opportunity for everyone, but it IS an opportunity everyone should explore. This internship is for high school or college students. It is for weekday work with our artists, or weekend work with our artists at our markets.
