Trades Specialist - HVAC

Job Duties:

1.Performs regularly scheduled quarterly preventive maintenance including but not limited to all rooftop units, wall units, window units, VAV boxes, air handlers, split systems, heating boilers during the heating and cooling seasons. Duties include: Changing filters, inspecting, adjusting, replacing drive belts, lubricating motor and shaft bearings, cleaning of condenser/evaporator coils, boiler tubes, and burner tables.

2.Performs various maintenance functions that require knowledge of, sheet metal, schematics, blueprints and operation of hand and machine tools involved with maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing systems and landscape irrigation. Troubleshoot, repairs and overhaul pneumatic and electrical controls, commercial refrigeration compressors, centrifugal water chillers, two and four pipe water heating and chilling systems, boilers, pumps, valves, starters, condenser coils, filters, electrical heating systems, duct work, plumbing (including urinals, toilets, sinks, drain and water supply lines), and any other device that is part of the assigned facilities.

3.Troubleshooting/testing of electrical control circuits, mechanical, refrigeration systems, identifying defective parts, obtaining quotes on parts for immediate procurement and repairing/replacing required parts as necessary.

4.Provide technical consultation to the Director of Facility Management for facility maintenance, repair and renovation including but not limited to the planning HVAC and electrical requirements for new construction and renovations. Assist in ensuring all work is code compliant. Layout and give cost projections for repair and remodeling projects. Perform various administrative functions such as completion of logs and historical records. Monitor and fulfill maintenance work order requests.

5.Manage and maintain the Energy Management System(EMS). Analyze data provided by energy management system. Implement hardware and software changes necessary to optimize building comfort and reduce energy costs.

6.At times performs the following: Assist other trades specialists in their duties, minor repairs and maintenance to equipment and tools, moves office furniture and arranges conference rooms and meeting areas as needed for various meetings and conferences, grounds keeping duties and minor plumbing repairs. Respond to emergency calls after normal working hours and/or be available to work as support services for college activities such as graduation and other college hosted events outside of normal work schedule.

7.Performs all other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor or vice president.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems.

Preferred Requirements:
Associate Degree in HVAC with (4) four years directly related work experience to include one year in a supervisory capacity or a high school diploma and (6) six years directly related work experience to include one year in a supervisory capacity.

Salary:

Building/Grounds Specialist

1.Performs cleaning duties in offices, hallways, classrooms, lobby areas, elevators, and stairways including sweeping, mopping, buffing, vacuuming floors, rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture, emptying wastebaskets and trash containers; cleans chalkboards and whiteboards; dusts furniture, fixtures, shelves, blinds & window seals; cleans walk-off mats. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.

4.Monitors inventories in custodial closet and notifies supervisor of need for restocking cleaning, trash liners & restroom supplies. Attends training and safety meetings and other related meetings. Follows all safety policies and procedures. Assists with setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. Performs other related duties as required. Respond to emergency calls outside of normal working hours and/or be available to work as support services for college activities such as commencement and other college hosted events outside of normal work schedule.

Minimum Requirements: Experience in custodial, housekeeping or pest control work that is directly related to the area of employment.

Preferred Requirements: A High School Diploma and (2) years related work experience; or 10th grade education and (3) years related work experience.

Procurement Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Planning and coordinating procurement for operational supplies and equipment to ensure compliance with the State Procurement Code. Awards contracts and prepares purchase orders as required. Maintains and ensures compliance for the College Procurement Cards.

Serves as College liaison in reporting claims and coordinating with insurance carrier. Serves as liaison with federal agencies and State Tech office concerning institutional procurements and invoices. Responsible for quarterly reports of sole sources, trade in, emergency and minority reports to include IT requests.

7. Coordinates the training of all faculty and staff in the on-line use of requisitions.

8. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

General Support Supervisor

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid South Carolina Driver's License is required within 30 days of hire. GENERAL DUTIES:
• Attend court hearings and records information onto legal docket. Prepare the official court dispositions which are reported to SCDMV and/or SLED agency.
• Responsible for routine correspondence received requiring information or responses to inquiries; answering telephones; taking messages; provide general information to the public and make the appropriate referrals to other offices/agencies.
• Type, proofread, and distribute orders, docket entries, correspondence, and all forms, of a specialized and confidential nature. Also responsible for recording equipment in courtroom to ensure correct annotation of court proceedings.
• Organize and maintain docket files; makes appropriate entries into cases and files; file stamp various dockets. Submit files for signatures; all while ensuring the smooth flow and confidentiality.

CROSS TRAINING:
Daily municipal court operations, and cashiering, customer service. Must be able to adapt and change duties with very little notice.

LANGUAGE SILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and apply Laws set forth by South Carolina Court Administration and the City. Must be able to read, write, and orally communicate effectively and efficiently so participants can understand and comprehend. Must be able to hear and annotate court proceedings.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must be able to utilize and efficiently use laptop, type quickly and accurately. Be able to use various computer programs to gather information. Annotate information into systems. Be able to effectively operate office communicational equipment (telephone, fax, email, etc.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Know proper currency and be able to add or subtract and give proper currency as change. Ability to compute fines and State assessments. Ability to analyze the amount of time a defendant has been incarcerated and deduct from monetary fine.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to analyze critical situations and apply necessary thought process and think entire situations through in split second decisions impacting participant’s life. Efficient multi-tasking is a MUST. Ability to use good judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and remain neutral
when dealing with participants.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Criminal justice information security and awareness training (every 3 years); Victims’ Service provider annual training. Valid driver’s license.

WHEN SERVING AS A FIREFIGHTER/EMT- BASIC/ ADVANCED/ PARAMEDIC:

In addition to the above examples of essential work, employees in certified as Firefighter/ Emergency Medical Technician Basic / Advanced / or Paramedic may perform but are not limited to the following essential duties as authorized by certification level, protocols, and Medical Control:

• Responds to public calls for assistance with emergency medical situations, including but not limited to cardiac problems, breathing difficulties, pediatric emergencies, childbirth, strokes, diabetic seizures, falls, sports injuries, stabbings, shootings and other trauma/medical incidents.

• Performs various advanced life support functions, including airway management, parental therapy, pharmacology, EKG interpretation, cardioversion, defibrillation, CPR, bandaging, medications, movement of patients and the administration of intravenous medication and fluids.

• Obtains past and present medical histories, current trauma event information, and determines the need for administering aid in accordance with state EMS guidelines.

• Tests, checks, and maintains emergency life support equipment, including medical supplies, defibrillators, EKG machines, gas powered generators, extrication tools, and other related medical equipment.

• Operates two-way radio, cellular telephones, and traditional telephones to transmit information regarding injured peoples’ condition and vital signs and other information relevant to the treatment of a patient.

• Directs and supervises personnel during emergency medical service operations.

• Provides care during emergent inter-facility transports.

• Maintains SC EMT and National Registry of EMT and other certifications as required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The City of Beaufort also offers performance-based salary increases annually.
