Foreign Language Instructor/Program Director

Job Duties:

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

1.Work with members of the Arts and Sciences and Foreign Language Advisory Committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.

2.Assist in the development of Foreign Language and communication skills curricula for students in all college programs.

3.Evaluate courses in the Foreign Language curricula.

4.Assist in the refinement of curricula for Foreign Language courses.

TEACHING PERFORMANCE

1.Teach courses as assigned and in accordance with the established syllabi.

2.Utilize effective technology for the provision of learning activities.

3.Provide high quality instruction in Foreign Language for students on a regular basis.

4.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.

5.Participate in the Faculty Performance Management System.

6.Achieve at least a 3.5 on student evaluations and satisfactory peer/supervisor evaluations.

STUDENT ADVISEMENT

1.Work with the Student Services Division in the selection, recruitment, admission and retention of students and to utilize counseling services.

2.Advise and maintain records of assigned student advisees in accordance with divisional policy and procedures.

3. Provide effective academic advisement for students enrolled in the Associate of Arts/Sciences Programs.

4.Cooperate with the Student Services Division in the placement and follow-up of students.

5.Maintain office hours as required to meet needs of students, faculty, and advisees.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

1.Represent the Division and College by participating in community and professional meetings.

2.Attend relevant professional meetings.

3.Maintain a current awareness of educational innovations and trends appropriate to provision of high quality instruction in developmental and college preparatory skills.

COLLEGE/COMMUNITY SERVICE

1.Cooperate with other instructional and support areas in fulfillment of the College’s Mission.
2.Effectively serve on college committees or projects as required.
3.Schedule, prepare for and hold at least two Program Advisory Committee meetings per year.
4.Complete accreditation requirements for ACBSP, and complete and submit reports as required to continue ACBSP accreditation.
5.Participate in volunteer activities in the Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties.

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

1.Adhere to class schedules.
2.Provide students with course syllabi, grading policy, and any special policies regarding make-up work and expectations for academic honesty, at the beginning of each semester.
3.Provide students with test results and other grades within one week of submission if appropriate.
4.Submit departmental reports, grades, book orders, and other required documents on the date requested.
5.Assist in securing and mentoring qualified adjunct faculty for the program when needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Spanish, French, Chinese or German
