Food Service Assistant

The Children's Center, serving Lowcountry families since 1967, is hiring a full-time Food Service Assistant to help prepare and serve healthy, safe meals to children from 6 weeks to 8 years old. What you'll do
•Help prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack each day, following USDA guidelines
•Follow planned menus, recipes, and portion sizes
•Deliver meals to classrooms on time and at safe temperatures
•Make sure children with allergies or special diets get safe, appropriate meals
•Keep the kitchen clean and sanitized to meet or exceed DHEC and DSS standards
•Wash and sanitize dishes, cups, and utensils after every meal
•Help keep temperature logs and meal counts
•Step in to lead the kitchen when the Kitchen Lead is out

What you bring
•Food service or kitchen experience
•Interest in children's nutrition (ages 6 weeks to 8 years)
•A flexible, dependable work style and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen
•Teamwork and clear communication with teachers and staff
•Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds
•ServSafe certification preferred, or willingness to earn it within 6 months of hire
•Associate's degree preferred
•Must pass DSS childcare background check and health requirements

Position details

Schedule: M – F, 7:30 am – 1:30 pm
Pay:$16 - $19 per hour
