Education Program Manager

This position serves as the day-to-day operations and education programs administrator for Self Help’s Hardeeville location. The Manager will oversee education programs including ESL and GED classes, as well as financial literacy, digital literacy, soft skills and other workforce readiness workshops. The manager will work closely with students and neighbors to help access and identify resources needed for success, ensure classes are staffed with volunteer tutors, and build solid relationships with both students and tutors. They will provide leadership and support to other community agencies and organizations to further the mission of Self Help. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the issues, community needs, and existing systems of care. He/she must also be able to effectively articulate Self Help’s mission, vision, and program details to multiple audiences to affect community action.Primary Responsibilities:
•Reflect Self Help’s mission and values in a professional style and personal actions and maintain knowledge of current (and evolving) Self Help programs and services.
•Provide administrative oversight in the intake, orientation, and registration of prospective students and neighbors, including placement testing, pre- and post-testing, and reporting educational gains.
•Serve as the primary point of contact with enrolled students and neighbors, following up when appointments, classes, or study sessions are missed; identify attendance or engagement issues.
•Manage sign-in procedures and assist with compiling monthly education attendance traffic, and participation data/reporting.
•Facilitate and lead tutor workshops, volunteer trainings, and/or informational session to support collaboration and ongoing development.
•Serve as a program cheerleader, by offering students and neighbors encouragement, positive reinforcement, and supporting their success throughout the program.
•Provide support and guidance to students, tutors, and volunteers by maintaining a working knowledge of all program curricula, digital platforms, instructional tools, and community resources.
•Provide support and guidance to neighbors utilizing Self Help computer labs and self-paced digital learning technologies.
•Provide emotional support with goal, career, and or education planning using Self Help’s holistic approach. Participate in internal and external opportunities to gain and maintain community awareness and relationships. Attend and assist with job fairs and community events.
•Apply strategic thinking and a solution-oriented focus for your role; anticipate and/or identify
opportunities for our clients/students and our team.
•Collaboratively work with the Director of Education and education team members to implement action plans to improve our advocacy program and meet the organization’s strategic goals.
•Collaboratively work with the client advocate and intake team to provide wrap-around support services for our neighbors. Participate in community and civic activities to increase networking and public awareness of Self Help's programs. Serve as a point of contact for community engagement while implementing initiatives.
Qualifications:
•An understanding of and passion for Self Help’s mission and vision.
•Bilingual in both English and Spanish preferred. Proficiency in both languages should include written and oral communication.
•The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years client-facing experience, non-profit and/or case management experience a plus.
•Degree in education, social work, human services, or related field.
•High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.
•Display effective leadership among clients, staff, volunteers, and donors.
•Must possess strong project management and time management skills, interpersonal skills, positive relationship building internally and externally.
•Must have a high level of work ethic, urgency, and transparency.
•Willingness to travel to/from Self Help locations.
•Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide others when necessary.
•Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format and build and maintain relationships.
•Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability.
•Seek out and be open to feedback.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises volunteer tutors.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., however education programs run Monday – Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Each education program team member covers one evening of classes, to support the team.
