Building Official

What You Will Do
- Serves as the Building Official; directs and oversees researching, drafting, maintaining and interpreting building and related codes;
- Supervises and establishes work priorities, delegates and assigns work, provides guidance on code issues for plan reviews and field inspectors to ensure code compliance;
- Communicates regularly with contractors, sub-contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and citizens concerning construction requirements; communicates with State, Local and Federal agencies;
- Ensures that all local, state, and federal construction codes are administered in a timely and consistent manner; reviews and interprets adopted codes;
- Develops Division goals and objectives;
- Sets objectives for code compliance, staff development, and efficient and courteous service delivery;
- Conducts comprehensive reviews of commercial and residential plans to ensure code compliance, as needed;

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- International Code Council (ICC) Building Official; and
- Valid Driver’s license.
