What You Will Do
As the Beach Programs Manager, you will shape the future of Hilton Head Island's beach experience by:
Defines and communicates a “best-in-class” Hilton Head Island beach experience balancing hospitality, education, accessibility, and public safety by ensuring cohesive messaging, branding, signage, and public communication across all beach initiatives;
Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with Town departments, contracted service providers, governmental agencies, environmental organizations, and volunteer groups by defining roles and responsibilities, serving as liaison, and leading pre- and post-season coordination meetings;
Manages beach environmental stewardship programs including clean ups, recycling initiatives, Beach Ambassadors, and public education and outreach related to dune preservation, sea turtle protection, and environmental ordinances;
Manages and evaluates the Lifeguard Services contract, coordinates beach safety operations with partner agencies; and evaluates emerging safety technologies such as drones and remote rescue devices;
Oversees communication of hazardous conditions including the flag system, weather conditions, rip currents, and wildlife alerts; and
Evaluates beach accessibility, manages accessibility assets, coordinates equipment distribution with Shore Beach Service and Facilities Management and ensures programs support beach access for all users.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field
Five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience leading complex programs, projects, contracts, or public initiatives
Strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills
Valid Driver's License
