Veterinary Technician Responsibilities
Responsible for all animal intakes, all animals’ health, care and medical well-being while they reside at the shelter.
Responsible for all documentation of animal care.
Responsible for communicating regularly with the Executive Director and staff pertaining to all issues associated with health: injuries, illness, behavior, feeding, nutrition, exercise restriction and availability status. Included herein would be any information that would impact the care, quarantine, isolation and or adoption of the animals.
Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory, ordering, issuing and administrating medications, medical supplies and prescription foods in compliance with federal, state and local requirements under the supervision of the Shelter Veterinarian.
Responsible for ensuring all medical records and health certificates meet the requirements for each transport byworking closely with the Adoption Coordinators.
Provide medical explanation to approved adopters of shelter animals, as needed.
