Cross Schools is seeking a dependable and service-minded Groundskeeper to help care for and maintain our campus, creating a safe, beautiful, and welcoming environment for students, families, staff, and visitors. This role is an important part of supporting our mission by stewarding God’s creation and ensuring our campus reflects excellence, care, and intentional design.

Position Summary

The Groundskeeper is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the Cross Schools campus, including lawns, landscaping, outdoor learning spaces, athletic areas, walkways, and common outdoor facilities. This individual works closely with the facilities team to ensure campus grounds are well-maintained, safe, and ready to support learning, play, athletics, and community events.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain campus lawns, landscaping, trees, and garden areas through mowing, trimming, edging, mulching, planting, and watering

Assist with care of outdoor learning spaces, play areas, and athletic fields to ensure safety and usability

Perform seasonal grounds tasks including leaf removal, storm cleanup, and basic irrigation support

Monitor campus grounds for safety concerns and report needed repairs or hazards promptly

Set up and break down outdoor spaces for school events, athletics, and special programs as needed

Assist with light maintenance and general campus upkeep when required

Operate and maintain grounds equipment safely and responsibly

Support a clean, orderly, and welcoming campus environment that reflects Cross Schools’ values

Qualifications

Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance preferred

Ability to operate lawn and grounds equipment safely

Physically able to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions

Dependable, self-motivated, and attentive to detail

Willingness to work as part of a team and support campus needs as they arise

Respectful of a school environment and able to work around students and staff
