FSS Studio Manager - Position Description
The Full Spectrum Studio (FSS) is seeking a permanent part time person to serve as our Studio Manager. Our studio hosts a cadre of 8 permanent artists with disabilities who regularly participate in studio work and art shows. The Full Spectrum Studio is located at 33 Bow Circle, Hilton Head Island, SC and is a 501c3 organization.
Our artists have visible and invisible disabilities. They are all enthusiastic about art and learning. Your job will be to manage day to day work experience, provide guidance, and support.
Compensation for this position is hourly and can include studio time.
The FSS space encompasses 3000 sq ft of pottery, painting, glass, and textiles work space. The studio has a pottery kiln, two glass kilns, four looms, a slab roller, a pottery wheel, pug mill, and full painting area.
The studio manager addresses day to day experiences at the studio, ensuring proper safety protocols are observed while encouraging comprehensive creative self expression. Studio materials, cleanliness, and security are also the responsibility of the artists as well as the studio manager.
The artists of the FSS work on pieces for submission to the Art League of Hilton Head, local markets and juried competitions, all activities that Studio Manager will help facilitate and lead. The Studio Manager also works with the Art Director in conducting artwork critiques, developing plans for projects, and strategies to help the FSS artists continue to develop as artists.
The successful applicant will meet the following required criteria -
Art background and portfolio of work - any medium (painting, pottery, glass, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, etc.)
Have successful experience with the community of people with disabilities - either personally or professionally
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
The successful applicant will meet the following desired criteria -
Have experience in pottery, weaving, and glass works
Have experience teaching adults with disabilities
Experience in professional art activities, markets, shows, juried shows, etc.
Management experience
Be available to start working 4 August 2025
